What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
Direct from GOV.uk: The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) supports the decarbonisation of homes and small and medium non-domestic buildings in England and Wales. The scheme provides upfront capital grants of up to £7,500 to encourage property owners to replace existing fossil fuel heating with more efficient, low-carbon heating systems, including heat pumps and biomass boilers.
Grant availability, values and requirements can change, so we always provide up-to-date guidance as part of the quotation process.
How do I apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
We will take care of everything for you, before, during, and after the installation. We will commission and prepare all documents for the application and guide you through it. We are MCS-accredited to offer the design, supply, and installation of Air Source Heat Pumps to qualify for the grant.

Air-source Heat pump systems explained

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) are a system that can transfer heat from the outside of your property to inside. Using the latest technology principles of vapour compression refrigeration, it uses a refrigerant system involving a compressor and condenser to absorb heat and transfer it to your home. In simple terms, they do the opposite of an air conditioning unit or fridge; rather than cooling, they warm, and the heat can then be distributed around your home by using your radiators or underfloor heating. Unlike gas and oil boilers, ASHPs are typically designed to run 24/7 using low continuous amounts of heat and energy, rather than large amounts of energy and bursts of heat.
ASHPs are run from electricity and prevent any need for Gas or Oil installation. If you are looking to futureproof your home with a Green energy installation and want a low carbon footprint while potentially saving £100’s yearly on your energy bills, then an Air Source Heat Pump is for you.

Air source and hybrid heat pumps
We work with a range of heat pump system types, including:
Air source heat pumps
Hybrid systems (heat pump combined with a boiler)
Systems are selected based on property type, available space, heat demand and long-term performance requirements.
This includes residential properties, new builds, renovations, mixed-use buildings and commercial environments.

Experience with leading heat pump manufacturers
We work with established heat pump manufacturers commonly specified in the UK.
This includes experience with brands like Worcester Bosch, Grant, and many others:
Worcester Bosch
Mitsubishi Electric
Clivet
Daikin
Grant
Samsung

Systems are installed and commissioned in line with manufacturer and MCS requirements to protect performance and warranty cover.
Commercial heat pump systems
In addition to residential installations, we design, install and maintain commercial heat pump systems for a range of building types and project scales.
This includes:
Commercial heat pump installations and upgrades
Integration with existing heating systems and plant rooms
New build and developer-led schemes
Planned servicing and long-term maintenance
Work is delivered by experienced engineers familiar with commercial environments, compliance requirements and ongoing system support.

Heat pump FAQs - Your Questions Answered
Do you install heat pumps in commercial buildings?
Yes. We design, install and maintain heat pump systems for residential and commercial properties.
Do you offer servicing and maintenance?
Yes. We provide planned servicing and ongoing support for heat pump systems.
Are heat pumps suitable for all properties?
Not every property is suitable without upgrades. We assess each project carefully before advising.
Do heat pumps work in cold weather?
Yes. Modern systems are designed to operate effectively in UK conditions when correctly specified.
How much will an air source heat pump cost?
All of this depends on what size heat pump you need and how much work/alterations are needed; every property is different. Please get in touch for a free, no obligation quote.
Will I have to change all my radiators and why?
For all installations, we will carry out a full room-by-room heat-loss report to determine whether and which radiators may need upgrading. The reason is that Air Source Heat pumps operate at a lower flow temperature than your current boiler, so you typically need a larger heating area to achieve the same heat output.
How much do air source heat pumps cost to run?
There are many factors to take into consideration, such as the size of your house, the insulation values, the efficiency of a Heat Pump is calculated in CoP (Coefficient of Performance). CoP measures the amount of input compared to the amount of output. For example, if a heat pump uses 1 kW of electricity and produces 4 kW of heat, the CoP is 4 (400% efficient). The higher the CoP, the more efficient the heat pump is, and the lower your bills will be. The average CoP for a heat pump is more than 3. Even the best gas boiler on the market would be less than 100 % efficient.
Where do I put the heat pump?
The heat pump has to be sited outside, typically on a rear external wall with a minimum of 1 metre clearance from the front of the fan. Locations can all be discussed with your engineer as to where is best and most practical.
